Asians Fighting Injustice is a grassroots, non-profit organization dedicated to uniting the AAPI community in fighting against systemic injustice & hate. Our goal is to reduce Asian hate crimes in our local communities. AFI is 100% volunteer run.

An educator and intersectional activist, Kim is a New York native following in their grandparents’ footsteps, Kim is seeking to empower the AAPI community and fight the injustices that plague our society. They are a mom, daughter, student, and artist determined to see society become a better place for the next generation.
Julie Kim Einiger
DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS | Founding Member
Julie Kim Einiger is a media professional with a diverse range of skills. She is sought for her combined expertise in media relations and producing multimedia content for corporations and non-profits. She spent nearly two decades in the TV news business, working up and down the East Coast as a videographer, producer, reporter and fill-in anchor, covering everything from hurricanes to Space Shuttle launches to Presidential politics.
Derrick Leon
Volunteer | Founding Member
Derrick is a born and raised New Yorker, who has been involved with AFI since its inception. He couldn't stand idly by as the violence towards the AAPI community rose. Instead, he dove headfirst into doing work that would unite communities and put an end to the senseless hate. With his experience in event planning, marketing and business development, he oversees the day to day work of AFI.
Ben Wei
SPECIAL ADVISOR & Activist | Founder
Ben Wei is an entrepreneur, educator, and activist who most recently has donated 1M+ pieces of PPE to frontline healthcare workers, first responders, and marginalized communities during COVID-19. Ben was a lead organizer in hosting the largest rallies for #StopAsianHate in NYC and his work has been recognized by the NYC Mayor's Office, NBC News, CBS NY, and dozens of other media outlets. He volunteers his time as a Special Advisor to AFI, working on strategic projects.
Kim Byrne
Activist & Social Media Volunteer
Kim is a Korean-American adoptee, born in Seoul and raised in NJ. She is an elementary teacher in Newark and is working to change the education system by launching a more cultural inclusive reading curriculum with her school. Kim not only supports the AAPI community, but all underrepresented and marginalized groups. She is excited to be a part of Dumplings of Love, once again uniting our BIPOC communities.
Annie Zhao
Fundraising Volunteer
Born and raised in the province of Hunan, China, Annie moved to states with her family when she was 15. Having understood very little English, she had to work diligently to close the language gap and adapt to a new environment. Fast forward to today, she works as a data strategist for a media company, also strives to dismantle racism by amplifying AAPI voices as well as strengthening inter-community relationships. She’s excited to utilize her skills in strategy and communication to help build a solid foundation for Asians Fighting Injustice, so the organization can focus on healing and empowering the community.
