Social Media Manager

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated volunteer Social Media Manager to lead our digital communications efforts. This role involves managing our social media presence and overseeing the creation of our monthly newsletter. The ideal candidate will have a passion for AAPI issues, excellent communication skills, and the ability to lead a small team of volunteers.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Social Media Management

    • Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy aligned with AFI's mission and goals

    • Supervise a small team of volunteers in creating informative and engaging posts about issues facing the AAPI community, events, news, etc.

    • Manage content calendars across various social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok)

    • Monitor social media trends and adapt strategies accordingly

    • Engage with followers and respond to comments and messages in a timely manner

    • Track and report on social media metrics and performance

  2. Newsletter Production

    • Write and edit the monthly AFI newsletter

    • Collaborate with other team members to gather relevant content and updates

    • Ensure the newsletter effectively communicates AFI's activities, achievements, and upcoming events

    • Manage the newsletter subscriber list and work on growing readership

  3. Team Leadership

    • Assign tasks and provide guidance to team members

    • Foster a collaborative and creative team environment

    • Ensure all content aligns with AFI's voice, mission, and values

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of and passion for AAPI issues and social justice

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Proven experience in social media management and content creation

  • Familiarity with various social media platforms and analytics tools

  • Experience in newsletter writing and production (preferred)

  • Leadership skills and ability to work effectively with volunteers

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Proficiency in graphic design tools (Canva) is a plus

Time Commitment

  • Approximately 5-10 hours per week, including some evening and weekend availability for time-sensitive posts and team coordination

Content Creator

Position Overview

We are seeking enthusiastic volunteer Social Media Content Creators to join our digital communications team. Working under the guidance of the Social Media Manager, you will play a crucial role in researching, creating, and designing engaging content for our social media platforms and events.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Content Research

    • Conduct thorough research on current AAPI issues, community concerns, and relevant news

    • Identify trending topics and discussions relevant to AFI's mission

    • Compile and organize research findings for use in social media content

  2. Content Creation

    • Develop engaging and informative social media posts based on research findings

    • Write clear, concise, and compelling copy for various social media platforms

    • Brainstorm creative ideas for social media campaigns and series

  3. Visual Design

    • Create eye-catching digital materials including infographics, social media graphics, and event flyers

    • Design visuals that effectively communicate complex information in an accessible manner

    • Ensure all visual content aligns with AFI's brand guidelines and aesthetic

  4. Collaboration

    • Work closely with the Social Media Manager and other team members to align content with overall strategy

    • Participate in team meetings and brainstorming sessions

    • Provide and receive constructive feedback on content ideas and designs

Qualifications

  • Strong interest in and knowledge of AAPI issues, social justice, AAPI history, social issues, civic engagement, community-building

  • Excellent research skills with the ability to find and synthesize information from reliable sources

  • Creative writing skills with the ability to adapt tone and style for different platforms

  • Proficiency in graphic design and video editing tools (e.g., Canva, CapCut)

  • Familiarity with major social media platforms, their best practices, and current trends

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines

  • Experience in social media content creation is a plus, but not required

  • Ability to help translate content into relevant languages (preferred)

Time Commitment

  • Approximately 5-10 hours per week, with flexibility based on project needs and your availability

Fundraising Associate

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and resourceful Fundraising Associate to join our volunteer team. In this role, you will work closely with our Executive Director and other volunteers to develop and implement strategies to engage individual and corporate donors, as well as assist in running successful fundraising campaigns. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about AAPI issues and interested in gaining experience in non-profit fundraising.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Donor Engagement

    • Help identify and research potential individual and corporate donors

    • Assist in developing and maintaining relationships with donors

    • Create compelling donor communications, including emails, letters, and proposals

    • Support the management of donor database and tracking systems

  2. Fundraising Campaigns

    • Assist in planning and executing various fundraising campaigns throughout the year (eg., Giving Tuesday, AAPI Month, etc)

    • Help create campaign materials, including online content, flyers, and social media posts

    • Support event planning for fundraising activities, both virtual and in-person

    • Track campaign progress and help prepare reports on outcomes

  3. Corporate Partnerships

    • Research potential corporate partners aligned with AFI's mission

    • Assist in developing corporate sponsorship packages

    • Help draft and prepare corporate partnership proposals

    • Support the cultivation and stewardship of corporate relationships

  4. Grant Support

    • Assist in researching grant opportunities relevant to AFI's programs

    • Help gather information and materials for grant applications

    • Support the grant writing process as needed

  5. General Support

    • Attend team meetings and contribute ideas for fundraising strategies

    • Help maintain accurate and up-to-date fundraising records

    • Assist with other fundraising-related tasks as they arise

Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Proficiency in GSuite

  • Experience with donor management software is a plus, but not required

  • Previous fundraising or sales experience is beneficial, but not mandatory

  • Comfort with reaching out to potential donors and partners

  • Creativity and problem-solving skills

Grant Manager

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Grant Manager to join our volunteer team. In this crucial role, you will oversee AFI's grant application process, manage awarded grants, and ensure compliance with grant requirements. This position is ideal for someone with a background in grant writing or management who is passionate about supporting AAPI causes and uplifting communities.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Grant Research and Strategy

    • Identify potential grant opportunities aligned with AFI's mission and programs

    • Develop and maintain a grants calendar to track application deadlines and reporting requirements

    • Collaborate with leadership to align grant-seeking efforts with organizational goals and funding needs

  2. Grant Writing and Submission

    • Lead the writing and editing of grant proposals, ensuring high-quality, compelling narratives

    • Coordinate with program staff to gather necessary information for grant applications

    • Prepare and submit all required documentation for grant applications

    • Ensure timely submission of all grant proposals

  3. Grant Management

    • Oversee the implementation of awarded grants, ensuring compliance with funder requirements

    • Develop and maintain systems for tracking grant expenditures and program outcomes

    • Prepare and submit grant reports to funders, including financial and narrative components

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for grantors, maintaining positive relationships

  4. Team Coordination

    • Collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate tracking and reporting of grant funds

    • Work with program staff to align grant-funded activities with proposed outcomes

    • Provide regular updates to leadership on grant status, upcoming opportunities, and potential challenges

  5. Capacity Building

    • Develop grant management procedures and best practices for the organization

    • Train and mentor other team members in grant writing and management skills

    • Stay informed about trends and changes in grant-making in the AAPI and social justice sectors

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in grant writing and management, preferably in the non-profit sector

  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills

  • Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, compelling narratives

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Proficiency in budget development and financial reporting

  • Experience with grant management software and databases (Preferred)

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
